2 Person Hot Tubs
A 2-person hot tub is built for couples, solo soakers, and anyone who wants serious hydrotherapy without filling up the whole backyard. Smaller footprint, lower operating costs, and — in many cases — compact enough to move through a standard doorway. Quick Picks: 2-Person Hot Tubs for Couples
Not sure which model fits your situation? Here's how our current 2-person lineup breaks down by use case.
Garden Spas – Azalea
Open bench seating puts two adults facing each other — good for conversation, easy entry and exit, and more legroom for taller users. A straightforward, well-built plug-and-play spa at a practical price point.
Garden Spas – Hibiscus
Dual lounge seating positions both users side by side, reclined in the same direction — ideal for watching TV from the spa, stargazing, or any setup where you want to look out at the same thing rather than at each other.
Softub Sportster® 140
Runs on a standard 110V outlet with no electrician required, weighs a fraction of an acrylic spa, and can be moved by two people. The right choice for renters, cabins, covered porches, or anyone who wants a quality spa without a permanent installation commitment.
What to Know Before Buying a 2-Person Hot Tub
Two-person hot tubs are the smallest full-featured category in our lineup — typically square or rectangular, running roughly 5½ to just over 6 feet per side. That compact footprint is what makes them practical for apartment patios, narrow deck spaces, sunrooms, and homes where a full-size spa would simply overwhelm the space or never make it past the gate.
They are also the most doorway-friendly size class we carry. Several models are rated to pass through a standard 34″ or 36″ door opening on their side — meaning you can move them through an interior hallway without removing the frame. If that’s a factor for your install, filter by Fits 34″ Doorway or Fits 36″ Doorway, or start at the Find My Hot Tub tool where you can combine filters.
Seating Configurations in a 2-Person Spa
Most 2-person hot tubs seat two adults in one of two arrangements: a lounge configuration with one or both seats partially reclined, or an open bench setup with users facing each other. Lounge seating targets jets along your lower back, calves, and feet — the preferred layout for hydrotherapy and muscle recovery. Open bench seating trades that reclined positioning for more legroom, which is worth considering if either user is over 6 feet tall or finds fully reclined seats restrictive.
A handful of 2-person models feature a single lounge seat paired with one upright seat — a practical compromise if one person prioritizes the therapeutic stretch and the other prefers sitting more upright. Browse by Lounge Seating or Open Seating to compare layouts side by side.
Voltage and Operating Cost
Many 2-person hot tubs are available as plug-and-play (110–120V) models that run on a standard household outlet with no licensed electrician required. Plug-and-play spas typically draw 12–15 amps and heat more slowly than 240V units, but they’re a realistic starting point for renters, cabins, covered porches, and any installation where running a dedicated circuit isn’t practical.
For year-round use in Minnesota, a 240V model with good foam insulation will outperform a plug-and-play spa on every efficiency metric — faster heat-up, stronger jets, lower monthly cost to maintain temperature through a January cold snap. The upfront electrical work typically runs $200–$600 depending on panel distance and is a one-time cost that pays off over the life of the spa.
2-Person Hot Tubs — New vs. Refurbished
If budget is the primary factor, our refurbished spa program frequently includes smaller 2-person models. Every refurbished spa goes through a mechanical rebuild — pumps, heater, and relevant components replaced as needed, not just inspected. Compact spas tend to move quickly through our refurbished inventory, so most sell before they’re ever posted online. Use the Priority List on the refurbished page to get notified when a 2-person match comes in.
